Surgery

I had my big operation yesterday to fix my broken jaw. They wired my jaw shut to realign my bite, and then screwed a bent titanium plate over the crack to hold it all together. It was a 2 hour surgery, we were there for about 7 hours, and let me re-state, the team at Huntsman Cancer Institute is AMAZING.
I will be recovering at home for about a week.

  1. It’s been a week, how are you feeling now? I have a friend who has also been in an operation like yours, and I know the healing process is quite critical especially in eating. Since she can’t chew, she just drinks her food in a glass and it works for her. Anyway, I hope you’re recovering well from your operation.

  2. Nannie,
    Thanks for your comment !
These operations are difficult, but I have been surprised by my quick recovery. I actually feel okay and am moving into soft foods now, though I still depend on juicing fruits and veggies to get my nutrients. The doctor told me gentle chewing and talking will serve as Physical Therapy to get my jaw back in shape.
Please give all my best to your friend in her recovery and let me know if you have any more questions-- with all of my surgeries I have plenty of advice!! xx Cheers
